Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy, is a very popular treatment for those who have large pores, acne scars, and overall texture issues.

The InnoPen uses small surgical grade needles to create controlled micro channels in the skin’s surface. This triggers the natural wound healing process which stimulates the growth of new collagen and elastin in the skin. The two natural proteins which provide elasticity and structure to the skin.

These microchannels produced by the procedure also allow skin products to penetrate deeper into the skin, achieving better results as your skin heals.

What skin types is this best for?

This treatment can be done on all skin types but there is more of a risk when performing the procedure on Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI. It can actually cause lightening or darkening of the skin as well as blotchiness.

When will I see results?

Your natural skin healing process peaks typically around 14 days this causes the results to become more visible. This may develop over the course of several days to weeks. Depending on the needle depth used and how quickly you heal, results may vary.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on your skin care concerns patients may see a result after one treatment. However, it is recommended to receive a series of 3-4 treatments about 4-6 weeks apart to achieve the maximum result for your skin. Your Esthetician will set up a treatment plan for you depending specifically on your skin goals from this treatment. Once completing a series of treatments, it is best to have annual maintenance sessions to maintain the results.

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment patients may experience redness and swelling in the treatment area. This is normal and can be expected to disappear within 24 hours of the treatment. 

Following the procedure do not wash your face for at least 2-3 hours, it is best to rinse only with water if needed following the procedure. You may continue with gentle products the following day. 

Stay away from strong acids or scrubs on the treatment area for 2 weeks post procedure. 

Avoid any sun exposure for at least 48 hours, your skin is very fragile while healing and if exposed to the sun it may cause hyper or hypo pigmentation.
